Her parents are Harvey Welker, a Native American Father as well as Julie Welker, an African American Mother. Her father works in engineering while her mother is an estate agent. Walker received her schooling in the Germantown Friends School located in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood, graduating in 1994. She went to Harvard College, where she obtained a Bachelors in Arts degree. Welker is engaged to John Hughes a well-known marketing director for Merck in Philadelphia and has two children. They began to have an affair. John her husband has more than four years of her life. Their relationship was progressing so well that they took their relationship to a new level.
